Teaching and Learning
At OLSH we believe that each girl is unique and brings to school her own set of skills and understandings. As such, when learning here, we expose her to a variety of subjects and opportunities to assist in the development of her own learning strengths. Our teachers plan for engaging lessons that cater for the different learners within the class so that our girls experience success. We use contemporary and innovative strategies and technologies to provide relevant, engaging, thought-provoking lessons that instil a passion for learning in our students.
By exposing your daughter to a variety of subjects, she gets to explore opportunities that she may have never otherwise considered pursuing. Each student is then given the opportunity to study these subjects through to the Senior years, with OLSH offering over 70 SACE subjects at both Year 11 and Year 12. This ensures that each girl can continue studying in specialist areas that she both enjoys and thrives.
Our subject counselling process guides students in choosing subjects that appeal to their interests and suits their strengths. This individualised process gives our girls the opportunity to excel in their studies and ultimately results in grades that allow them to study their preferred courses at University or TAFE. By considering each student's own individual pathway, we guide students to choose subjects that will support them in their future endeavours.
Learning at OLSH does not stop in the classroom. All activities and events held over the course of the year provide our girls with learning opportunities and together with formal lessons provide a well-rounded education that best prepares her for her future.
