Career Education
An essential component of our careers program at OLSH is for students to be immersed in the wonder of the world and wide ranging possibilities for pathways beyond school. From their junior years at the College, each student is provided with a multitude of opportunities to explore career ideas and pathways through our comprehensive careers program. The program is closely tied to the Year 10 PLP and senior life skills courses, allowing students to have ongoing conversations with teachers and careers counsellors about genuine possibilities and the range of jobs in particular fields, allowing them to tailor their pathways for future employment. We start the program with the introduction of career information resources that encourage exploration and careful consideration of options. This is followed by a real experience in the world of work through the Year 10 PLP. Whether it be the career Mentors breakfast, subject counselling, Career Expos, guest speakers or Individual career guidance interviews, our senior students are provided with a wealth of opportunities to support a successful transition to further study or employment.
